Our SMART-est Resources on Social and Digital Engagement
A recent review of Denovati SMART Articles revealed that our most popular content falls into two categories: conceptual and tactical pieces on the digital transformation of organizations (learn more here), and practical insights and how-to guidance on leveraging social and digital technologies. Here are links to our most-read resources on social and digital engagement (plus one bonus piece).
I love to write conceptual pieces that address the high-level applications and implications of new technologies and are geared toward helping organizational leaders in particular prepare for and navigate Digital Era trends and realities. Many of these pieces are well received, but they’re nowhere near as in demand or popular as the more down-to-earth, practical SMART Articles I’ve written addressing specific challenges individuals and organizations are facing.
The most popular article by far has been Website Builder Platforms: Best Options for Small Businesses, which is applicable to any small(ish) organization. Published almost two years ago, it continues to be accessed and read almost daily. You can find all of our SMART Resources on website optimization here.
Another popular article has been Creating a Brand Identity in the Digital Era: 13 Key Factors. Like many of the pieces we’ve written, it was inspired by our own experiences and our work with clients. You can find all of our SMART Resources on branding in the Digital Era here.
The rest of our most popular social and digital engagement pieces focus on Social Media Platforms and Related Tools. At the top of the list is our Social Media Sophistication Quiz (aka the SMQ). With four versions over the years, I’ve lost track of how much this resource has been read and used (and yes, it’s due for another update).
Close behind our SMQ pieces are two of the articles that provide Twitter guidance:
- Twitter Best Practices: 11+ Tips for Tweeting Well
- Twitter Hashtags: 7 Tips and a Decision-Making Flowchart
Though it may not be as popular (yet), Understanding and Using # Tags (hashtags) and @ Tags (at tags) is also worth mentioning. It’s definitely an issue that a lot of people are confused about!
Several of the articles I’ve written about LinkedIn have also resonated with people. Here are the top four:
- 7 Simple To Dos for Rookies to Enhance Their LinkedIn Profile
- Enhancing Your LinkedIn Profile II: 7 More Tasks and 23+ Tips
- LinkedIn Endorsements: What You Can and Can’t Manage
- LinkedIn Activity: Trying to Manage the Virtually Unmanageable
People have also been drawn to Pinterest Boards: Making them Work for You, written by Sean Pearson, and the following guidance on two nifty digital tools:
